4th of July is one of my favorite times of the year. It is a time to remember how our country came to be and to be united and proud to be an American. It means it summer time and the fire flys are out to enjoy! Time spent with family and friends, what can be any better than that? So on the 4th of July holiday, remember the ones who have fought for your freedom and enjoy the moments with the ones you love.

The MS WALK 2019 sponsored by the National MS Society is this Sunday, May 5th, 2019. Words of gratitude can not be expressed in the correct amount for all the support in this event! Happy May!! Spring is in there air, the birds are chirping, and the flowers are blooming. Even if we have snow! Crazy weather!

May is also Mother’s Day month. It is a time to thank all those moms out there who make our lives happy and whole. I thank my mom and my mother in law for doing all that they do!

I thank God for choosing me to be my children’s mommy. It is my greatest JOY and HAPPINESS TO be their mommy. They make me a better person, motivate me, and make me so grateful and thankful each and every day!

The tragedy that hit Aurora last week is all too close to home. Enough is enough. My brother, an Aurora Police Officer, was at the scene and I thank God he is okay. Many lives were taken and affected by such a useless act of anger by one man. It is a world now where anger is all too prevalent. I often find myself praying to God asking for guidance in raising my children in a world that acts out in violence all the time. And ALL THE TIME is saying it lightly, it happens every moment of every day it seems. I keep the perspective of doing good. That is all we can. Let’s keep doing good and living our life in Christ. Prayers to all the victims, their families, and all involved. True heroes done by the Aurora Police Dept. that day and always.

FEBRUARY INSPIRATION

The first month of the year has gone by so quickly already! Now it’s the LOVE month, which in my opinion, LOVE should be celebrated everyday not just on February 14th. But Valentine’s Day cards, chocolate, and parties are fun too!

So this month and EVERYDAY, share your love always. This world needs more LOVE and less hate. Be one of those who does just that, SHOW THE LOVE and BE THE LOVE. Our world sure does need it!

Patti is named after my dad, Patrick.

I chose a duck thanks to my friend, Todd, who said ducks can be born in tree trunks and have to be brave to fly out of tree not knowing the world outside of the tree.

Patti has a brother in the story like I do, my brother Dan.

My dad, Dan, and I would always throw a ball up on the roof and see where it would go and have to catch it, bump, set, spike it, or was the worse when it went over the house and you had to go get it. But all in fun.  My kids love to play this game with my dad now too.

I chose a snake because I am super afraid of them. And sometimes fear is not always a bad thing. Sometimes we need to conquer our fears.  I chose a frog because we had a pet Timmy Toad outside our house one summer, even though it did not end well for Timmy,the girls thought he was the best and we will always remember Timmy the Toad.

Now let’s dig a bit deeper on the book…

The scares Patti encounters from the snake and the frog correlates to my relapses and symptoms of living with MS. I have no idea what lies ahead with this disease but I keep going just like Patti does.  Patti’s brother tells her that he is there for her if she needs anything, just like my family and friends are. Patti tells herself three affirmations that I do have to remind myself of often. And trust me some times I feel like I am not any of those affirmations but again keep fighting.  And the ending is exactly how I live my life.

“I will do ANYTHING for the ones that I love.”

And I will always fight this disease and do the best I can living with it and managing it for my children, husband, family, and friends.

LOVE conquers everything my friends!

So there is the meaning behind that cute little duck Patti and what she is all about. I hope everyone enjoys the book. It was so much fun dreaming of it, writing it, rewriting it, seeing the illustrations make the story alive, and believing all the good I hope to come from the book.
